Clark County Board of Supervisors Hears Update on Emergency Communication System Upgrade, Part 6

Wednesday, November 19th, 2014 -- 10:42 AM

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors heard an update on the county's Emergency Communication System Upgrade.

During the presentation, Clark County Emergency Management Director John Ross addressed a question that has been brought up in the past about consolidating the dispatch center with another county.

He said that would not replace the need for a new tower and radio system and would not eliminate costs associated with the current project. He also said that it would require willing partners and would require integration of equipment and systems.

He stated that particular option could be very lengthy, it would delay the project further and it could actually increase the price tag.

He also mentioned that Clark County is researching the possibility of contracted EMD services through Gundersen/Lutheran, but it wouldn't replace current dispatch services.
