Man Arrested in Jackson County for Strangling and Abusing a Woman for Several Hours

-A Jackson County Man was arrested for abusing and strangling a woman under a bridge for almost three hours.According to the Black River Falls Police Department, the incident happened Wednesday morning under the Black River Bridge on Main Street.
A passerby spotted the woman and contacted police. When the authorities arrived, the woman told them that she was able to escape after being abused for several hours.
The suspect in the incident was located and 30-year-old Gabriel Downey of Shell Lake was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
