November 4th Elections

Monday, November 3rd, 2014 -- 1:06 PM

-Tomorrow is the November 4th general election and voters will finally get a hold of the ballots to elect the state's leaders and officers.

The biggest race on the ballot will be the race against current Governor Scott Walker and his opponent Mary Burke. Their race has been neck in neck for most of the campaign season. There are other races for state positions including attorney general, secretary of state and state treasurer.

For some races closer to home, voters will choose between current Congressman of the 7th District Sean Duffy or his challenger Kelly Westlund. For Wisconsin's 23rd Senate District, voters will choose between newcomer Phil Swanhorst and current Senator Terry Moulton.

Clark County is also split into three different Assembly Districts. For District 69, which includes Neillsville, Granton and more, voters will choose between current Representative Bob Kulp or his challenger Norb Salamonski. For District 68, which includes Greenwood and more, the choices are current Representative Kathy Bernier or newcomer Jeff Peck. Finally, for the 87th District, which includes Thorp and the upper left corner of Clark County, voter will choose between Richard Pulcher and James Edming.

For other county races, the Clark County Sheriff's race will include a rematch between current sheriff Greg Herrick and Scott Haines. Clerk of Courts Heather Bravener and County Coroner Richard Schleifer are running unopposed.

Finally, there is one state and two county referendums people will answer. The state question will be whether or not the State of Wisconsin should create a transportation fund that only allows those funds to be used for roads. For the county, Clark County residents can voice their opinion on whether or not they believe Governor Walker should accept federal funding for the expansion of Badgercare/Medicaid Funds and if there should be a photo Voter ID Law.

Also, residents in Loyal will need to vote on a referendum approving a revenue cap exemption for the next five years. If approved, the district will tax an extra $195,000 for the first year for maintenance issues and $395,000 for the next four years for general operating expenses. Taxes would go up about $72 for a $100,000 home for the 1st year, remain that way for the next two years and then drop back.
