Projects Discussed at Neillsville School Board Meeting

Wednesday, October 29th, 2014 -- 9:17 AM

-The Neillsville School Board heard a quick update on the canopy projects at their meeting on Monday.

The projects should be done by the end of the week as some roof work, lights and trim needs to be done yet, but it's expected to be finished soon.

The board also approved CESA 10 to manage their upcoming pool project. It was discovered recently that Neillsville's pool is leaking and they're losing about 2,000 gallons of heated water per day. With this contract, CESA's portion will be 2.5% of the total project cost and they will manage everything once it gets underway. If there's a large change that needs to be made, CESA will get the board's approval first.

The leak is happening around a pipe that collects water that spills over on the edges of the pool and that water is then recycled. However, the concrete that holds the pipe is no longer sealed tightly and some of the water is leaking around the pipe and collecting under the pool. If the pipe needs to be replaced, that could cause more problems as they believe there is asbestos surrounding it.

Closing the pool was also suggested as that substantial water loss could create greater problems later on. The project is expected to begin after the 1st of the New Year and it will take 6-8 weeks to complete.
