Three People Arrested in Black River Falls for String of Burglaries

Wednesday, October 29th, 2014 -- 8:13 AM

-Three people were arrested on Monday in Black River Falls for a string of burglaries plaguing the city for some time.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and Black River Falls Police Department, on Tuesday of last week, authorities responded to a burglary alarm at Wazee Sports Center. The suspect got away, but some evidence collected at the scene included a cell phone. After receiving a search warrant for the phone, the authorities had a suspect because he took a selfie at the scene of the burglary. Authorities identified the suspect as 19-year-old Nicholas Thorson.

Two more people were brought to the attention of the authorities after they received a complaint of fraudulent checks being cashed. 37-year-old Dawn Anderson and her son 17-year-old Austin Anderson were assisting Thorson in cashing stolen checks from one of the burglaries that occurred in the city.

After obtaining a search warrant for Anderson's home, the police found many of the items that had been stolen in the burglaries throughout the city. A young child was also removed from Anderson's home during the arrest and placed with Human Services while the suspects went to jail.

All three suspects have had a handful of charges filed against them including theft, forgery, armed robbery, burglary and more.
