Neillsville Finance Committee Prepares 2015 Budget, Fire Hall and Ambulance
Friday, October 17th, 2014 -- 10:56 AM
-The Neillsville Finance Committee has been meeting for the past week to create the 2015 budget for the city.During a Finance Committee meeting held on October 6th, the committee heard the budget for the Fire Department for the Fire Hall and ambulance. All-in-all, the fire hall budget was mostly in line with last year, but with a slight decrease from 2014's $4,386 compared to 2015's $4,376.
Councilmen Daryn Horn presented the ambulance budget for 2015 as the representative for the city on the Ambulance Board. Their budget increased slightly from $13,404.82 to $13,423.19. Overall, things are going well with the Ambulance Service. With LifeQuest handling the billings and collections, revenues have really increased. The department is setting funds aside for a new ambulance and some possible construction.
The ambulances today are made bigger than they use to be. A new one won't fit in the current garage. It would cost $40,000 to cut the box down on a new ambulance so the committee has been looking for other buildings, but they haven't had any luck. They did receive a quote from Tesmer Construction to add to the garage.
A public hearing for the 2015 budget will be held during the first common council meeting in November.
