Employment Matters Discussed at Granton School Board Meeting

-The Granton School Board discussed employment matters and more at their meeting on Monday night.

They approved the contracts for three new hires including Tessa Murray and Diana Welshouse as daycare staff and Ruth Boushack as the 21st Century/After School Support Staff. The board also tabled some coaching contracts until their next meeting and approved to hire Mark Waldoch to staff the Open Gym time that the board approved. Open Gym at Granton will be held two nights per week for two hours per night.

The board also approved an out of state field trip for the FFA. They will travel to the Twin Cities on January 31st to attend the Worlds Toughest Rodeo. They discussed the proposed 2014-2015 Spanish Trip, but that was tabled until the next meeting. Nine Youth Options requests were also approved by the board.

Finally, the board received their 3rd Friday Membership count. Granton has 244 full time equivalency students and the district continues to maintain a stable enrollment from year to year. They also received preliminary information about the 2014-2015 budget. The final budget will be presented at the Annual Meeting to be held on October 27th. The budget hearing will start at 8pm to be followed by the Annual Meeting.
