Unity Man Charged with False Imprisonment Appears in Marathon County Court

-A man accused of barricading himself in a bedroom with two young girls while armed with a knife appeared in Marathon County Court.Ben Chapa, of Unity, faces two felony counts of false imprisonment while armed and several misdemeanor charges.
Marathon County Assistant District Attorney Lesli Pluster said at a court hearing last week that the girls with Chapa were 7 and 10 years old. Sheriff's deputies forced their way into the home because they believed the girls were in imminent danger.
After hearing from a witness during the preliminary hearing, the judge determined that probable cause was found and Chapa?s court proceedings will continue. He will be in court again in November.
Chapa is being held on $2,500 cash bond.
