The Granton Village Board discussed the Park Budget at their recent meeting.

The cost to run the concession stand and support the ball tournaments and leagues expenses continue to climb each year.  The money made by Parks n’ Rec does not cover the Village expense.  The Village continues to search out ideas to increase park income.  The clerk also provided a packet outlining the Transportation Aid formula and how it is administered at the October board meeting.  The board also heard the President’s update.  He stated they need to update the hunting ordinance as there have been several people asking if they can hunt or practice shooting both cross bows and guns.  The board heard the Water and Waste Water Reports.  They worked with Cedar Corp, walked the project and Cedar Corp is very confident this project will qualify for CDBG Grant Funding.   Discharging from the Pond started on November 2nd with a Phosphorus level of .14mg/L.  It was suggested an annual inspection be done yearly at the lift station.  The cost is 1143 per inspection and there are 2 pumps.  The replacement costs for the pumps are 9,000-15,000 each.

They also Worked on getting stuff ready for plowing, cleaned sidewalks, put up snow fence, filled pot holes, made sneeze guards for the election staff and Covid parking signs.  They also Ordered new snow blades.   The board also discussed the pump inspections and agreed we should get the oldest pump serviced and have employees spend time with the rep and learn the process.  The board also heard the Library Update.  The budget was approved and provided.  Finally, the board heard the Treasurer’s Report.  The Deposit and Expense report was presented.  The Checking balance is $100,917.68, the Money Market Reserve balance is $529,418.44, the Cemetery CD is $16,927.29, the CDBG balance is $32,388.80 and the Library balance is $30,321.26.  Also, Federal, State and WRS payments have been made.
