Tax Levy Approved at Greenwood School District's Annual Meeting

Friday, September 26th, 2014 -- 9:35 AM

-The Greenwood School District held their Annual Board Meeting after the regular board meeting on Monday of this week.

During the Annual Meeting the board, and residents present, voted to approve the tax levy for the General Fund at $2,099,843, $483,254 for Fund 10 including the Energy Exemption and $10,000 for the Community Service Fund or Fund 80. This will actually change the mil rate for residents of Greenwood from $13.54, in 2013, to $12.79 per $1,000 of property value. So property taxes will fall about $75 for a $100,000 home. The district will also be receiving more state aid this year as the district has over 400 students enrolled for the new school year compared to just over 380 back in 2011.

In other matters, the board and residents approved the annual board salaries at $1,620 for the president and $1,320 for all others. They also earn $50 per special meeting and a $100 per diem.

The sale of obsolete school district property, acquire real estate through purchase or condemnation, sale of school property and the next Annual Meeting date were all approved as well.
