September 21st-27th is National Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week

-Governor Scott Walker has proclaimed the week of September 21st through the 27th as National Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week.Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense agency, was created in 1972 by an Act of Congress. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve members by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizes outstanding employer support, increases awareness of applicable laws and resolves potential conflicts between service members and employers.
Since 1972 when the military draft was abandoned, our National Defense has relied more heavily on our Guard and Reserve forces particularly since 9/11. Approximately 50% of our total Armed Forces infrastructure resides in the Guard and Reserve.
The Guard would like to thank the state employers that hire service members and all employers are encouraged to support and value the employment of the Guard and Reserve members thereby increasing the reaches of the Reserve Components and enhancing the country?s national defense.
