Representative Kulp?s Listening Session in Neillsville, Final

Tuesday, September 16th, 2014 -- 8:15 AM

-Representative of the 69th district, Bob Kulp, was in Neillsville on Thursday afternoon for a listening session.

There were many items talked about with the residents that were in attendance at the event including transportation, the economy, the possible deficit with the next state budget, education and more.

Representative Kulp also talked about the increased drug problem his district, and all of Wisconsin, is facing including the abuse of prescription drugs and the increase in heroin use. Representative Kulp talked about some possible initiatives to combat prescription drug abuse which would include mandatory blood testing before a prescription is filled to ensure that the individual taking the pills is indeed taking them and not buying them for someone else.

Representative Kulp also talked about finding a way to better distribute unemployment that will allow people to use the benefits if they need them, but get them back to work so they don?t become dependent on them.

Finally, when asked about a way to bring in more revenue for the state, Representative Kulp said that raising taxes wasn?t the answer. Having a vibrant economy will help increase the revenue.
