Representative Kulp?s Listening Session in Neillsville, Part 2

Saturday, September 13th, 2014 -- 8:17 AM

Representative of the 69th district, Bob Kulp, was in Neillsville on Thursday afternoon for a listening session.

There were many items talked about with the residents that were in attendance at the event including transportation, the economy, the possible deficit with the next state budget, education and more.

In regards to transportation, Representative Kulp said that he?s against raising taxes to try and bring in more revenue for the state, but with the transportation budget, they may not have choice.

With the budget currently in the red, Representative Kulp talked about a couple ideas he had to help the budget. His thoughts included removing the State Patrol out of the transportation budget and put the funds into a lock box so the money will stay in there. Representative Kulp said there will be a referendum question ballot about that.

He also said that the big reason why the budget has depleted is because they locked the gas tax in place back in 05 and 06 not accounting for inflation
