Greenwood's Superintendent Talks School of Recognition Award, Final

Friday, September 12th, 2014 -- 11:23 AM

-Several area school districts received the Title I School of Recognition award.

One of those schools is the Greenwood Elementary School. Greenwood will receive $500 for being a School of Recognition. Greenwood?s Superintendent, Jennifer Vogler, said they?re still thinking about what they?ll use the money for.

"We may look at purchasing some equipment for our students outside," said Jennifer. "We may look at helping pay for the mural that our elementary school had painted. Jodi Sorenson came in and painted that this summer. It's beautiful! It's in the library and the kids love it! It's just added so much positivity and feeling of warmth to our elementary building that we may use some of it to pay for that as well."

"In addition to the plaque and the $500, we're also receiving a flag. And we'll be displaying that in our elementary school with pride. That is a wonderful accomplishment. 5 years in a row is wonderful for us."

"And a nearby school, Owen-Withee Elementary School, is also receiving the award for 5 years, so congratulations to Owen-Withee as well!"

Some other area school districts recognized with this award include Granton, Owen-Withee and Abbotsford.
