Public Works Report at Neillsville City Council Meeting

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Public Works Report during the public works portion of the Common Council Meeting on Tuesday evening.The usual amount of work was done in the city including equipment maintenance, watering plants, mowing, hauling brush, hauling compost, street sweeping and more.
The curb and gutter installation on Grand Avenue is complete. Also, the sidewalk and driveway approaches are complete from Division Street to 1st Street. The Public Works Department is working on sidewalks and driveways from 1st to the end of the project now.
Paving crews have also been in the city, working on patching areas on Division and Hewett Streets. They?ll also continue working on the Grand Avenue project and the walking path from Apple Valley Bar and Restaurant to the Arboretum.
It was mentioned that the Water Department is working on finding leaks in the city as they had a water loss of 30% for the 2013 year. It?s something the city faces annually, but to do a water leak survey and fix them would cost the city around $100,000.
Finally, it was reported that the claim for assistance to FEMA, in regards to all the damages to water systems and pipes that many county communities faced this past winter due to the extreme cold, was denied.
