Neillsville City Council Repeals City Ordinance Due to New State Mandate
Thursday, September 11th, 2014 -- 9:43 AM
-The Neillsville City Council approved the repeal of a city ordinance due to a state mandate.A state law was recently passed that states local governments can no longer adopt an ordinance restricting bow hunting within the city. Hunters can now legally hunt in the city as long as they?re not within 150 yards of an occupied building. However, if a hunter gets permission from the building owner, that?s less than 150 yards away, they could hunt there.
The council had to repeal a city ordinance that did regulate hunting within city limits. Along with that, the council had to make changes to ordinance regarding how an individual would be cited if they were to violate the state mandate in some way.
During the communications portion of the meeting, the council heard about Memorial Medical Center Foundation?s Mingle event held on September 4th. They said it was well received with many people in attendance.
