Former Neillsville Resident Charged With Sexual Assault of a Child

Tuesday, September 9th, 2014 -- 8:15 AM

-A former Neillsville resident has been sentenced for repeated sexual assault of the same child in Brown County.

According to the criminal complaint, a 45-year-old man, currently incarcerated in the Brown County Jail, sexually abused a relative, on multiple occasions, during the 4 years they lived in Neillsville. After moving away and into a suburb of Green Bay, the abuse continued. The relative was just 5 or 6 years old when it started.

The man pleaded guilty to a charge of repeated sexual assault of the same child. A charge of 2nd degree sexual assault of a child and incest were dismissed and read in. The man was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 5 years of extended supervision. He must also register as a sex offender and owes the courts over $170.

Here in Clark County, the defendant has been charged with two counts of repeated sexual assault of a child. If convicted and sentenced to the maximum amount in this case, he could face a total of 120 years in prison. Though he?s in prison in Brown County, he does have a $25,000 cash bond in place for Clark County. No future court dates have been set for Clark County at this time.

Incest charges could not be pursued here in Clark County because the victim must provide an exact date as to when the incident occurred, which could not be done in this situation.
