Shooting Incident In Osseo

Sunday, September 7th, 2014 -- 6:56 AM

On Thursday afternoon the Trempealeau County Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a female, Wendy L. Hageness, 46, of Osseo, saying there was an unwelcome male subject at her residence. The unwelcome male, William N. Ledford, 52, of Portage, was not aware that the Wendy was at her residence. A short time later, Wendy advised that her husband, Jon B. Hageness, 52, of Osseo, had just arrived at the residence and that Ledford pulled a handgun on Jon in the driveway and ordered him inside the residence. WQOW-TV reports that while Ledford and Jon were inside the residence, gunshots were heard by the caller and responding law enforcement officers. While law enforcement officers were responding to the gunfire, Ledford exited the residence. Law enforcement made contact and took Ledford into custody without incident. Law enforcement then entered the residence to find Jon with a gunshot wound to the back. The Trempealeau County Sheriff says the gun used was a revolver, and that Jon was transported from the scene by Osseo Area Ambulance, where the bullet was removed and he was released. Further investigation revealed that several shots had been fired inside the residence. It was also determined that Ledford had driven to the residence in a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of the Wisconsin Dells area. Ledford is a relative of Wendy's, but the Trempealeau County Sheriff says they are not siblings. Ledford has been arrested, booked and is currently being held in the Trempealeau County Jail on charges of first degree attempted homicide, armed robbery, burglary and possession of stolen vehicle. He is also on parole.
