BREAKING: One Driver Killed in Accident South of Stanley

Monday, August 25th, 2014 -- 11:06 AM

-One person was killed in a one vehicle accident in the Township of Worden here in Clark County.

According to the Clark County Sheriff?s Department, on Saturday, August 23rd, they received a call just before 8pm about an accident on Copenhaver Avenue south of Broek Road.

An initial investigation revealed that 38-year-old Jessie Fitzl, of Stanley, was traveling north on Copenhaver when he came to the top of a hill and met two ATVs parked in a field by the shoulder. Fitzl passed the ATVs but lost control of his vehicle and entered the east ditch. The vehicle then flipped several times and Fitzl was ejected.

Lifesaving efforts were attempted by initial responders and Fitzl was transported to Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley, but he passed away from his injuries.

Fitzl was not wearing a seatbelt and speed is believed to be a factor in the incident. This is Clark County?s fifth traffic fatality for 2014 and comes just days after a Loyal native was killed in a one vehicle accident.
