Clark County's Unemployment Rate Drops for the Month of July

-Wisconsin?s unemployment rate dropped a full percentage point compared to a year ago.

According to figures provided by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Wisconsin?s unemployment rate sits at 5.8% for July 2014. In July of 2013, Wisconsin had an unemployment rate of 6.8%. Wisconsin is also below the national rate of 6.2%.

July 2014 rates decreased in 63 Wisconsin counties, were unchanged in four and increased in five compared to rates in June 2014.

Clark County has an unemployment rate of 5.4% for July 2014, compared to 5.9% in June of this year and 6.3% compared to July of last year. The county has dropped more than a full percentage point in one year and half of a percentage point compared to last month. Clark County ranks 45th out of 72 in terms of counties with the highest unemployment rate.

Looking at our neighboring counties, Chippewa has an unemployment rate of 5.2%, 5.2% for Eau Claire, 6.4% for Jackson, Wood is at 6.4%, Marathon is at 5.5% and Taylor has a rate of 5.7%.
