U.S. Drought Monitor Beginning to Show Wisconsin Becoming Abnormally Dry

-Now that parts of Wisconsin are not getting as much rain as it did earlier this summer, the latest maps released by the U.S. Drought Monitor are beginning to show portions of the Badger State becoming abnormally dry.The weekly report showed that Northeast Wisconsin is now at its lowest level on the drought monitor's scale. On average, about 11 percent of the state's land area is abnormally dry, according to last Thursday's summary.
The Midwest as a whole is now 12 percent above normal levels for drought. And nationally, nearly half of the contiguous 48 states is at some level of drought.
The driest state in the nation continues to be California this year, as that state is 60 percent in 'exceptional drought' status.
