Prosecutors Reach Agreement for Eau Claire County Man Charged with Animal Neglect

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Prosecutors reached an agreement for a 21-year-old Eau Claire County man charged with three counts of animal neglect.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, authorities say Devin Malcein's property near Augusta was inspected by humane officers last fall, where they found he was failing to provide proper food and shelter for the animals.  Inspectors discovered loose pigs and seven dead calves that had apparently starved to death.

Other animals were found to be severely malnourished.  Malcein was found guilty of Negligently Provide Improper Animal Shelter Sanitation Standards.  Two other charges were dismissed and read in.  Prosecutors reached a deferred prosecution agreement.
