Jackson County Man Sentenced for Beating and Choking a Woman

-A Jackson County man has been sentenced for beating and choking a woman.

In July of 2013, in the Town of Brockway, just east of Black River Falls, Brent Kampa, age 24, allegedly slammed a woman?s head into the dashboard and passenger window of a vehicle. He also allegedly choked her multiple times when they got home. Kampa had gone missing after the incident, but was arrested later that week.

Kampa had been charged with criminal damage to property, strangulation and suffocation, battery and 1st degree recklessly endangering safety. Kampa pleaded guilty to the strangulation and suffocation charge. The rest were dismissed, but read into the record.

Kampa was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 3 years of extended supervision. He also owes the courts over $250.
