Owen-Withee School Board Tables a New Phone System

Thursday, May 15th, 2014 -- 10:14 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board tabled a proposal for a new phone system during their Monday meeting.

At the April meeting, District Administrator Bob Houts presented the Board with a proposal for a new phone system for the district at a cost of $18,500.

The proposal was tabled until the May meeting so that more information could be gathered. In the meantime, the district received its quote for health insurance which amounted to a 15.8% increase.

Feeling the District can?t afford the new phone system at this time, the Board voted to table the proposal indefinitely.

Also, Middle/High School Dean of Students Brian Lewison reported to the Board on what transpired at the WIAA Annual meeting on April 16. The membership had proposed implementing a 1.65 multiplier on the enrollment of private schools for placement in the WIAA tournament series.

After much discussion, the membership voted to send the idea to an ad hoc committee for study and assigned them to bring a proposal back to the annual meeting in 2015 for vote. The membership also voted to leave conference realignment in the hands of the WIAA.
