Former Employee of Abbotsford Auto Parts Store Appears in Clark County Court for Theft

Monday, May 12th, 2014 -- 9:53 AM

-A former employee from an Abbotsford auto parts store appeared in Clark County Court Monday morning.

According to investigators, 51-year-old Kirk Kalepp stole close to $70,000 from the business. The incident happened over six years with various amounts taken from 2008 up to 2014. Kalepp would falsify return slips and pocket the money. Kalepp has been charged with theft of a business setting.

The NAPA Auto Parts Store contacted the Abby Police Department in December, concerned that this was happening. A surveillance video showed Kalepp taking the money out of the drawer when the other employees were not around.

Kalepp did admit to the crime, saying he needed the money for credit card debt and medical bills. During the initial appearance, a $5,000 signature bond was set. The Clark County Assistant District Attorney called the charge serious, but said Kalepp has strong ties to the community and no previous record.
