Owen City Council Discusses Denial of Reduced Speed Limit on a City Road

-The Owen City Council heard their request to reduce the speed limit on one of their roads was denied by the Clark County Highway Commission.During the public opinion portion of their meeting last week, the council was told by Owen?s Mayor, Stephen Heggemeier, that the County Highway Commission denied their request to reduce the speed limit on a portion of County Highway DD from the school to Highway 29. They also received a notification of increased costs for the 2014 local bridge inspections.
Also, during the public opinion portion of the meeting, Gunner Bernitt submitted, to the council, a police report regarding his application for a bartender?s license appeal and Mike Voss, of MSA Professional Services, reported that the application for the CDBG Grant is due June 2nd. An application is also being submitted for the 4th Street sewer main replacement and lift station #1 upgrade.
The council also held a public hearing regarding the City?s Community Development Block Grant-Public Facilities Funds for the waste water treatment facility upgrade completed in 2013.
