Boyd Man Will Be Sentenced in June for the Death of Another Boyd Resident

-A Boyd man will be sentenced in June for an accident that occurred in April of 2013.According to the Eau Claire County Sheriff?s Department, Andrew Schmitt, age 32, was the driver of a truck that hit a power pole on Highway N back in April. As a result of the accident another Boyd resident, Nicholas Neuenfeldt age 40, was killed.
Schmitt was initially supposed to stand trial for the charges last week on April 24th and 25th. However, both sides reached a plea deal in early April and on April 14th, Schmitt entered a no contest plea to the homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle charge and was found guilty. The homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle charge was dismissed and read in and the homicide by use of a vehicle charge was completely dismissed on the prosecutor?s motion.
Schmitt will be sentenced on June 20th.
