Granton Village Board Discusses Budget

Friday, November 13th, 2020 -- 12:53 PM

-The Granton Village Board discussed the village budget at their recent meeting.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board reviewed and approved the proposed budget.  The board also reviewed the proposed Levy Limit and approved the levy of $63,595, which was a five dollar increase over last year.  The board also heard an update on the dump truck.  The dump truck is at Monroe’s and the package is being installed.  The truck has been registered and the new license plate has been delivered.  The board discussed putting the old dump truck out for bid once the new one is housed.  They also heard an update on the speed limit signs.  The speed limit signs are here and will be put together next week when the guys are back.  There was no further update on the issue with the pond.  The Fire Department also approached the village and requested a dry hydrant be allowed to be installed in the pond. The board approved this item.

This motion was made at the October meeting but the clerk, in error, did not word the agenda item to include action.  This was re-posted properly for November to allow for public comment.  The board also reviewed and discussed proposed updates for a farm animal ordinance.  The board is working with a group of residents to update the animal ordinance.  No one was in attendance to discuss the ordinance.  The board did discuss contacting the DNR to discuss the Phosphorus Compliance and any water runoff concerns that might be involved if the village allows farm animals in town.  Finally, the board reviewed and approved the Multi Hazard Mitigation Resolution.  To be eligible for FEMA funding for mitigation projects, the adoption of this plan, via resolution by the board, is required.
