The Neillsville Public Library Celebrates National Library Week, Final

Thursday, April 17th, 2014 -- 1:25 PM

-This week is National Library Week and the Neillsville Public Library has special activities planned throughout the week.

During National Library Week, and throughout April, libraries host special events to highlight the unique role libraries play in communities. Jo Ann Gustavson, Librarian at Neillsville, and Chris Smith, a Neillsville Library Board Member talked about what the Neillsville Library has to offer.

Jo Ann talked about some of the other services the library provides.

Jo Ann said, "We do have inter-library loan and now we are a member of a seven county area. Clark, Forest, Lincoln, Langlade, Marathon, Oneida and Taylor Counties. So our library card will work in all of those libraries. People can go online, google Wisconsin Valley Library Service, and then go to the V-Cat Link and order things and have it delivered to our library. Then we'll contact them when they're here.

They also have computers with internet access, they?re a tax form outlet, they have an adult book club, Jo Ann is a proctor for exams and more.

Chris said that they receive a lot of wonderful support from the city council and library foundation.

Chris said, "This year were just really thinking about what are we doing with our local library? How can we promote it? And focusing on National Library Week. We have the luxury of having the wonderful support of a great city council. We have excellent support from a wonderful library foundation which wouldn't be in existence without the generous donation of a past donor. So with those things in place, I think we're able to open our eyes a little bit and broaden our horizons on what the library is doing."

If you?d like to learn more about what?s happening at the library feel free to call or stop by.

Feel free to contact us with questions and/or comments.
