Friday, April 11th, 2014 -- 8:16 AM

-A 2-year-old girl was found wandering along Marshfield?s busiest street early in the morning on Wednesday.

A passerby spotted the girl about 2am walking along South Central Avenue in Marshfield. The individual took the girl to a convenience store and called the police.

A Marshfield Police Officer was able to determine where the girl lived, she had made it about five blocks from where she lived, and they went to her home and discovered she was alone.

The girl?s father returned a short while later and told police he thought she was sleeping. He had left to get scrap metal from a dumpster because he couldn?t sleep, according to the 35-year-old man.

The girl was taken to a grandparents? home Wednesday and she was then with her mother on Thursday. No charges have been filed against the father yet, but police have recommended he be charged with child neglect.
