Neillsville Residents Could See Higher Water Bills in April, But NOT Because of Running Water Order

Thursday, March 27th, 2014 -- 11:17 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard the public works report before their meeting on Tuesday.

Public Works Director Dave Flynn talked about the water bill that Neillsville residents will receive on April 1st. Dave said that this bill probably will be higher than past bills.

However, Dave stressed the fact that the increase is NOT due to the running water order the city is currently under. Dave said that if there is any time on your bill since the city asked Neillsville residents to run their water; it would only be 5 or 6 days at most.

The reason your bill would be higher is because of the water rate increase that was approved by the council last year at the end of June. The rate increase went into effect at the beginning of December and your April bill will be the first one that reflects that increase.

Dave also said that due to the running water order, they are keeping an eye on residents? water consumption and making courtesy calls if the usage seems unusually high. Dave said the main reasons behind that include running toilets, broken faucets and other similar items.
