Clark County Will Receive State Funds to Help Maintain Public Roads in County Forests

-Governor Scott Walker announced today that $284,700 in state funds will help 24 Wisconsin counties maintain and improve public roads in county forests.

Clark County has 45.98 miles of roads eligible for state aid. The county will be receiving $14,431.16 to help maintain the roads. Our neighboring counties also have roads eligible for state aid. Chippewa County will receive $5,687.10, Eau Claire will receive $5,630.60, Jackson will get $2,724.28, Wood County will get $3,267.25, $2,033.80 will go to Marathon County and Taylor County will receive $5,448.56.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation administers the state?s County Forest Road Aids program. To qualify for the state funding, roads must meet minimum design standards of a 16 foot surface width and a 20 foot roadway width; be located within county forests; be open and used for travel; and cannot be town roads, county or state highways.
