Neillsville Public Works Department Asks Residents to Follow Proper Protocol

Friday, March 14th, 2014 -- 10:22 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard several important items during the Public Works portion of the meeting on Tuesday.

Dave Flynn, the Director of Public Works for Neillsville, brought up several items that he wanted the residents of Neillsville to be aware of. First, he asks that if residents are using a sump pump, please drain the water into your yards. He asks that you not run water into your floor drains in a basement or into the gutters. He doesn?t want that basically clean water putting extra strain on the sewer system.

Second, he would like people to start following the proper protocols for after hour emergencies. If you have an emergency of some kind, don?t wait until after hours to call the Public Works Department. If you?re trying to fix a problem for several days and then decide to call the city for help, Dave asks that you please call during the day because the after-hours calls cost the city extra money.

Also, if you do have an after hour?s emergency that requires you to call after regular hours, Dave asks that you follow the proper protocols and call the police department first. The hours of the works crew are from 7am to 3pm. If you call after 3, you need to call the Neillsville Police Department and they will get the message to Dave and his crew. If no one is at the Police Department, the call will be sent to the Clark County Sheriff?s Department and, once again, someone will get the message to Dave and his crew. Dave asks that you do not call the home phone numbers or cell phone numbers of the public works crew. That is not the proper procedure.

The City of Neillsville, the Neillsville Public Works Department and Dave Flynn appreciate your cooperation with these matters.
