Greenwood Chamber of Commerce 35th Annual Dinner Meeting, Part 3

Thursday, March 13th, 2014 -- 1:23 PM

-The Greenwood Chamber of Commerce held their 35th Annual Dinner Meeting on Sunday evening at the Greenwood American Legion.

There were several guest speakers at the event.

Pat Lindner, Greenwood?s Chamber President and Member of the Alice in Dairyland Committee, talked about the 67th Alice in Diaryland Finals being held in Clark County.

"I want to start with the briefing," said Pat, "which is going to be held in Clark County and that's March 27th and 28th. That is when the 6 finalists are decided on and they're here for about a day and a half. They'll do some touring, and lunch and a press conference. When that gets done, they'll go back and they won't come back to Clark County until May 15th, 16th and 17th.

The current Alice in Dairyland, Kristen Olson, was on hand to talk about the importance of agriculture and small farms in Wisconsin and she talked about her job to bridge the gap between producers, the farmers, and consumers, regular citizens, in Wisconsin.

Kristen said, "It's important to remember that agriculture in our state is much more than just a business, but really it's a way of life. It's a way of life for our farm families to work together, side-by-side, doing what they love every single day, 365 days a year. In fact, contrary to popular belief, 99% of our farms in Wisconsin are still family owned and operated to this day. I think that's something we can all take great pride in here in the state of Wisconsin."

We?ll have more throughout the week.
