Marshfield Man Pleads Not Guilty to Child Abuse

Tuesday, March 11th, 2014 -- 8:19 AM

-A Marshfield man entered a not guilty plea in Wood County Court on Monday for child abuse.

According to court records, an investigation began into the incident, involving 21-year-old Sebastian Suchomel and his child, on October 24th after the 11-week-old was taken to the doctor with multiple fractures.

The child had two fractures to its left arm, three fractured ribs, and a possible fracture to its leg. A doctor said these types of injuries to the limbs is consistent with constant yanking or pulling being done to them. The injuries to the ribs are consistent with the chest being squeezed or pushed to tightly.

Suchomel did admit that the baby was crying for a long period of time, he lost control, grabbed the infant?s arm and leg and flipped him over. When he did, he said he heard a pop and the baby?s arm went limp.

Suchomel is currently in the Wood County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond and he may spend over 40 years in prison if convicted for the abuse. He has two counts of child abuse as a repeat offender filed against him.
