Owen Residents, Run Your Water

Monday, March 10th, 2014 -- 12:05 PM

-Another Clark County city is asking their residents to run their water continually.

The City of Owen is advising all water utility customers to run their water to prevent freezing of water service lines.

Owen has offered two options for you to do this. You can designate one faucet in your home and set it at a constant flow; a thin flow of water as small as a pencil lead or you can adjust the float in your toilet tank so that it allows water to run ever so slightly over the flow pipe.

The air temperature might be milder, but your water service is still surrounded by frost and could freeze quickly if you stop running the water. Continue to do this 24 hours a day until notified by the City of Owen. This advisory could run as long as April 1st.

The city says in will adjust your account for the extra usage and you will be billed your normal usage for this time of the year. You will not be billed for the extra usage. If you have any questions, please call City Hall at 715-229-2404. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Owen joins Neillsville, Greenwood, Granton, Thorp and Abbotsford who have all asked their residents to run their water.
