Memorial Medical Center Hosting CPAP Clinic, Final

Thursday, March 6th, 2014 -- 1:31 PM

-Memorial Medical Center will be hosting a CPAP Clinic on March 17th from Noon to 5pm.

Jim Dunn, of Whitney Sleep Diagnostics and Consultants, provided a list of questions they ask patients that feel they may need a sleep study.

Jim said, "We like to say that if you're having trouble getting asleep, staying asleep or not waking up refreshed, it's worth a chat with your doctor. We actually have a little screening tool we use, a list of questions. The questions are pretty simple, one of them is, do you snore? Another is, are you excessively tired during the day? Another is, have you been told that you stop breathing when you sleep? Another is, do you have history of hypertension or high blood pressure? Another, is your neck size over 17 inches for a man or 16 inches for a woman? There's two more. One is, do you wake up to use the bathroom more than twice a night? Have you ever fallen asleep while driving? If a patient answers yes to two or more of those questions, that could be a positive screening for Sleep Apnea."

You don't need an appointment for the CPAP clinic, but for those who do want a scheduled time, you can call Whitney Sleep at 877-844-6150 to reserve a time. If you want to purchase new supplies, you can speed up that process by having Whitney Sleep verify your insurance benefits in advance by calling that same number.
