Former Abbotsford Math Teacher Accused of Sexual Assault Appears in Clark County Court

Thursday, March 6th, 2014 -- 10:52 AM

-A former Abbotsford High School Math teacher accused of sexually assaulting two of his female students appeared in Clark County Court on Thursday.

Back in January, the Abbotsford Police Department began an investigation into allegations that 25-year-old Andy Follen had an inappropriate relationship with some of his female students. Follen had resigned from the school district just prior to the beginning of the investigation. An officer interviewed two female students that admitted they had engaged in sexual activities with Follen.

During his appearance on Thursday, the court waived the reading of the complaint and the time limits. The court also agreed to Follen?s new attorney, John Stichert.

Follen is free on a $2,500 bond, but he is not allowed on any school grounds, he cannot have any contact with his victims or witnesses and he must call the Clark County Sheriff?s Department every Friday from a land line so they know where he is.

Follen has five counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff filed against him and if he?s convicted, and sentenced to the maximum amount, he could face a $60,000 fine and 36 years in prison. Follen will appear in court again at the end of March.
