Starting April 1st, New Ways for Neillsville Resdients to Pay Utility Bills

Monday, March 3rd, 2014 -- 11:01 AM

-The Neillsville City Council received a small tutorial on the different options residents can use to pay their utility bill.

Ellen Clark, the Deputy Clerk-Treasure of Neillsville, told the council that starting April 1st, people can pay their utility bill on line using the city?s website. Residents can use a credit card, Paypal, e-checks or they can sign up for the auto pay option and have the city take that amount directly from their account.

If they use a credit card, Paypal or e-checks there will be a fee of 3.3%, 3.5% and 1.2% respectively. When using auto pay, an individual might face a fee form their bank.

Ellen said she hopes that people will use these methods to pay for their bills and people have said, when their bill is late, that if they had auto pay, their bill wouldn?t be late.

A couple other minor items brought up during the meeting include the burnt out property in the city. The papers have been served to the current owner and if she doesn?t tear it down in 30 days, the city will do it. Mayor Mabie also offered his thanks to the public works crew, city residents and others on their patience, hard work and coming together during the water crisis. The city is also in need of a volunteer to run their closed circuit audio-visual TV system which is most commonly used to televise Neillsville?s City Council meetings. Harvey Pischer, the current operator, is ready to retire.
