Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Awareness Month Ending, But they Can Always Use Help

Wednesday, February 26th, 2014 -- 1:39 PM

-As February comes to a close, so does Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Awareness Month, but just because the month is over, doesn?t mean that Interfaith no longer needs help.

Judy Morrow, Program Director for the Clark County Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, explained who the Caregivers are.

"Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Clark County is an organization whose mission is to help the elderly stay in their homes as long as possible," said Judy. "So what we wanna do, through volunteering, any thing that we can do to help them stay in their home, so they don't have to go to assisted living or nursing homes or things like that. Are whole thing is to help people stay home as long as possible. Safely at home for as long as possible."

As a volunteer you can find a schedule that works for you whether it?s once a month, once a week or just once. Just checking in on your neighbor and helping can make a huge difference.

Judy said if you see someone that needs help, just ask them.

"Just look around you and see that person that maybe needs that help and knock on that door and offer because they're willing to take your help they just don't want to ask for it. And the other part is, if you know somebody who needs that help certainly call us because we will try our darndest to help with the situation."

Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers need help year round and you can contact Judy Morrow if you?re interested in volunteering.
