Course Options Discussed at Neillsville School Board Meeting

Wednesday, February 26th, 2014 -- 12:54 PM

-The Neillsville School Board approved several Course Option requests, formally known as Youth Options, at their meeting last week.

District Administrator John Gaier did mention that not all of them may work. It depends on the student?s schedule.

A board member did ask how much money the district spends to allow students to take college classes during their high school career. It ranges from year-to-year, but it?s currently in the tens of thousands of dollars.

All the board members agreed that the program is a wonderful opportunity for the students, but they wished the colleges that are offering the classes would help pay for the cost.

Also, the board approved two donations during this meeting. The board approved a donation from the Clark County Inter-Agency Coordinating Coalition and Security Health Plan. The coalition and Security Health donated booklets about what to do if your child is sick. They also accepted a donation of 38 softballs from Ron Grap.
