Marshfield Man's Trial Postponed

Wednesday, February 26th, 2014 -- 10:48 AM

-A Marshfield man, who was scheduled to appear before a jury today, had his trial postponed, for the time being, while the defense reviews documents about the case.

Back in July of last year, a 13-year-old, who was referred to as DFO during a court hearing that took place in October of last year, entered Wolf?s Grocery in Marshfield wearing a mask, holding a pocket knife and demanded money. Margie Wolf, the 96-year-old owner, refused to give him any money and he ran.

According to Detective Kevin Hamill of the Marshfield Police Department, when he questioned DFO about the incident he did admit to it, but he also said that 17-year-old Cordell Ellingson had encouraged him to commit the robbery. Ellingson?s attorney argued that DFO had misunderstood a statement from Ellingson as a challenge and that he shouldn?t be held responsible for it.

Ellingson has entered a not guilty plea to felony contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Defense Attorney Ashley Reimer was allowed more time to review redacted documents she requested. Ellingson will be back in court again in March.
