-We have an update for you on the water situation in Neillsville.A total of five breaks occurred around the city, but the biggest one causing the most problems remained elusive to the city utility and public works department. It was finally was located near the fire hall Friday night. Crews will dig up the area Saturday morning and repair the break, getting Neillsville?s water back up to full capacity.
The break left Neillsville businesses and residents scrambling on Friday to get clean, usable water. The Clark County Courthouse and school district was closed Friday. Local businesses are bringing in more water for residents and businesses outside the city, including Grassland, Lynn Dairy and Shopko, are trucking in water for hospital patients to use. As of Noon Friday, it was estimated that the city lost 250,000 gallons of water.
The city is still under the Boil/Bottled Water Advisory until tests have been completed on the water to see if it was contaminated. The water is currently unfit for consumption. It could be early next week before the advisory is lifted.
