Marshfield Man Pleads Not Guilty to Killing His Dog

-A Marshfield entered a not guilty plea in Wood County Court Friday afternoon for allegedly breaking his dog?s neck.According to Marshfield authorities, 27-year-old Michael Loftus was walking his dog on November 27th when he killed the animal by breaking its neck.
Loftus left the dog in a wooded area where authorities later discovered the body. Loftus also said he took a picture of the animal and sent it to a family member.
Authorities are unclear as to the motive behind the man?s actions, but, if he?s convicted of the charges, he could face 3.5 years in prison. Loftus is currently free on a $5,000 cash bond. He will appear in court again in March.
