Taylor County Man Will Have Trial for Shooting Sheriff's Deputy

Saturday, February 15th, 2014 -- 6:57 AM

-A Taylor County man will be going to trial for shooting a Taylor County Sheriff?s Deputy.

Back in September in Westboro, which is north of Medford, Taylor County Sheriff?s Deputy Chad Kowalczyk, originally from Boyd, made contact with 27-year-old Alexander Schneider as a result of a violation regarding a court ordered injunction.

When Kowzlczyk responded to the violation he was shot at several times by Schneider and the deputy?s arm was grazed by a bullet and he was hit in the stomach.

Schneider has several charges filed against him including first degree intentional homicide, bail jumping, possession of a firearm and possession of a short-barreled shotgun.

Schneider has pleaded not guilty to all the charges and he is still in jail on a $1 million cash bond. The five day trial is set to start at the end of July.
