Water Bill Auto Pay for the City of Neillsville

Wednesday, February 12th, 2014 -- 10:05 AM

-The City of Neillsville is setting up a new account to collect water and sewer bills.

During the public works portion of the meeting, and later during the regular common council meeting, the council approved to set up an auto pay checking account for the city. This will give people the option to enroll and have the city automatically take out what a resident owes for the current water bill when it?s due. Along with this, the council had to approve an application by the city to apply for a line of credit in case a resident may not have the money in their account when the total for the water bill is pulled out.

Also, during the public works portion of the meeting, Works Director Dave Flynn wanted the council to be aware that even though media outlets have been reporting that several area cities have asked their residents to run their water to prevent frozen pipes, including Greenwood and Throp. Neillsville HAS NOT issued a notice for their residents to do so. Neillsville has a clay soil whereas most cities have a sandy soil, so the clay fights off the frost better. There are 12-14 properties in the city that have the water running because of past issues of pipes freezing. The works department will continue to monitor frost levels and the system before taking this measure.
