Neillsville Chamber of Commerce Recognition Banquet, Part 7

-The Neillsville Chamber of Commerce held their recognition banquet at the Neillsville American Legion.Dr. Greg Foster, the presenter of the awards, named the businesses that celebrated an anniversary in 2013. Tesmer Construction Corporation was honored for 55 years of service.
Dr. Foster said, "Tesmer construction was founded 55 years ago by two concrete contractors named Raymond and Milbert Tesmer. In 1961, they hired a young draftsmen from Marshfield named Dick Backus. In the late 1980s, Dick became the owner of Tesmer Construction until his retirement in 2004 when he sold the business to his sons, Eric and Phillip."
Dick and Eric Backus were very pleased to accept this award.
"We've been around for a long time and we've been fortunate to have a lot of good customers," said Dick. "I've been fortunate to have 3 of my sons work for me. Never had to worry. Never had to watch my back. Somebody was always there looking our for me, for 55 years."
Eric continued, "It's kinda interesting for those of you that don't know, our last name is Backus and we still run Tesmer Construction Corporation. The Tesmers stuck around for about 20 years and the Backus' ran it for the last 40 or so, but we kept the name. Thank you to the chamber for recognizing us for this monumental year, another 5 years in the books. Thanks to the community for all the support and hopefully will be around for years to come."
