Listening Session With Representative Bob Kulp, Part 9

Friday, February 7th, 2014 -- 10:23 AM

-Representative Bob Kulp discussed many topics during a listening session held in Marshfield last week.

Representative Kulp talked about redistricting in the state of Wisconsin and what it would take to change how it?s decided in the state.

"I'm still learning," said Representative Kulp. "But it's there and it's there for a purpose and redistricting was one of them. Iowa has gone to a non-partisan thing and there's a debate on whether it would take a constitutional amendment to change the way redistricting is done or not. The Legislative Counsel, I haven't seen this paper myself, but it says a constitutional amendment wouldn't be required. Again, I can drink from so many faucets at once, but once there's 3 or 5 more than I expect it's like, okay, I should focus on what I'm doing. I enjoy the question. I don't mind tangling with it, but it's like Common Core. It's not right in front of me and I know that train has already departed the depot. There's little one new Freshman can necessarily change."

Representative Kulp is a business owner in Stratford and was elected to replace Scott Suder at the end of last year after his resignation.
