Clark County Certified Application Counselors Explain the Affordable Care Act, Final

Friday, December 20th, 2013 -- 9:22 AM

-The Affordable Care Act is highly controversial item, as is health care in general, and it can be very confusing at times.

I spoke with Shauna O?Keefe and Amber McNeely, Certified Application Counselors for Clark County, about the ACA. Shauna mentioned some of the biggest concerns people have about the new law.

Shauna said, "I think there has been a lot of misinformation going around. I think that people are scared. They're hearing that fees are going to be $2,000 if they don't enroll by this date. They don't believe that it is going to be affordable because there has been some misinformation about that as well. Pretty much everything is a process. There are so many changes to health care and people are not being educated correctly. And that's why we're here, just to lend an ear and answer any question you may have and explain this new process."

Shauna encourages residents to call her or Amber if they have any questions.

Shauna said, "If people do have any questions or concerns, Amber and I are available for phone calls, individual appointments and we're doing outreach to offer relief for the frustrations that have been put on the Affordable Care Act. We just encourage everyone in Clark County to give us a call. We're always happy to answer our phone."

If you have any questions on the ACA or would like to enroll through the federal website, Shauna and Amber would be happy to help. You can call them at 715-743-5264 and 715-743-5261. There are also two enrollment sessions coming up, one scheduled on January 14th at the Abbotsford High School and another on February 4th at the Greenwood High School.
