Wood County Health Department Issues Advisory on Whooping Cough

Monday, December 16th, 2013 -- 8:19 AM

-The Wood County Health Department has issues a health advisory about Whooping Cough.

This comes just a couple weeks after the Clark County Health Department also released an advisory for residents to be aware of the sickness.

In Wood County, 13 confirmed cases of the cough were identified and as of the beginning of December, Clark County also confirmed 13 cases.

Symptoms of Whooping Cough can start with cold-like symptoms which include a runny nose, possible low-grade fever, and a mild cough. The illness can progress to spells of explosive coughing that can interrupt breathing, eating, and sleeping.

To prevent the spread of illness you should wash your hands often and cover your cough. You should also stay home when you?re sick.
